Project Akuluraq – Supporting Our People and Staying Connected
Through a partnership between Choggiung Limited and Nushagak Cooperative, Project Akuluraq expands reliable fiber internet access in Dillingham and the Bristol Bay region to meet a need many shareholders experience firsthand and to help build the foundation for the region’s future communication needs.
For Local Families
For shareholders and families living in the region, improved internet access supports students, caregivers, workers, and Elders. It helps make online learning more consistent, allows for telehealth and remote appointments, and strengthens communication during emergencies and difficult weather.
For Shareholders Away
For shareholders who live outside the region, Project Akuluraq helps strengthen connections to home. Reliable internet supports communication with family, access to local information and services, and the ability to stay engaged with the region even when living away.
Across the shareholder community, stronger connectivity supports economic participation. Small businesses, local organizations, and individuals benefit from improved reliability for payments, scheduling, training, and remote work opportunities. These practical improvements contribute to stability for households and help support the regional economy that many shareholders depend on, directly or indirectly.
Project Akuluraq is about meeting a real and shared need. By strengthening essential infrastructure in the Dillingham region, the project supports quality of life today while helping ensure that future generations—whether they live locally or away—can remain connected to their community, culture, and home.
